Experiences

The following experiences led to development of skills in this area:

Courses

ADV 4600; Media Planning; Spring 1998
One of the assignments for the course was to develop a media plan for a company of our choice. I used Microsoft Office to create a multimedia presentation and spreadsheet outlining the company’s advertising plan. Through detailed research, I was able to create a budget for producing and airing their campaign. This class gave me a deeper understanding of how to apply researching principles to develop a final project.

Jobs / Internships

Clear Channel Communications Tallahassee, FL; Assistant Producer, May 1999 – Present
I work at a local radio station researching material and content for the radio talk show hosts to use for their programs. In this position, I am responsible for managing my own workload. This includes meeting numerous deadlines & prioritizing multiple projects. I have also gained skills in developing programs for a variety of mediums.

Service / Volunteer Work

Science Museum, Tallahassee FL; Summers 1998 and 1999 I assisted the staff with creating projects for children when they visited the museum. Using a variety of educational tools, I helped design hands-on exhibits and activities for the children to be able to explore and learn more.

Memberships / Activities

FPIRG Board Member, Tallahassee, FL; Fall 1999 and Spring 2000
I worked with a group of students to research ways in which we could help the environment through student activities. I helped create a new program that allows students to easily voice their environmental opinions to their Congress members.

Interests / Life Experiences

Undergraduate Assistant for Dr. Burke at Florida State University, Spring 1999
I used Web-Luis and other library materials to research content for papers on how communication has been affected by the Internet and advances in technology. This work has added to my analyzing and reasoning abilities, as well as my investigating skills.
