The following experiences led to development of skills in
this area:
Courses
CGS 4406; Object Oriented Programming in C++; 3 credits;
Spring 1998
In this class, I was required to do many programming projects.
As a result, I can produce object-oriented programs in C++ with
appropriate documentation.
Jobs / Internships
Jacksonville Naval Air Station Preventative Medicine Unit,
Jacksonville, FL; Intern; Summer 1998
I monitored the water quality for all food service vendors at
the base. As a result, I learned to use current water-quality
testing equipment to correctly sample drinking water for pH and
contaminants, and to interpret test results.
Service / Volunteer Work
Air Force ROTC, Florida State University; Volunteer; Fall
1997 - Spring 1998
As a volunteer project, I designed the website for Air Force
ROTC. As a result of working on this project, I developed a high
proficiency in using HTML editors, including Allaire Homesite.
To produce the programming for some of our pages, I also learned
to write javascript.
Memberships / Activities
International Society of Engineering Students (ISES), Florida
State University; Member; Spring 1998 - present
As a member of ISES, I write article summaries for our monthly
newsletter. This gives me valuable experience reading current
technical articles in various Engineering disciplines, and
writing technical summaries.
Interests / Life Experiences
Internet Research; ongoing
I spend a great deal of free time "surfing the net."
This has allowed me to gain skills in utilizing the Internet as
a research tool. I have advanced capabilities in using search
engines, locating information, and navigating the Internet with
ease. I am comfortable with Internet Explorer and Netscape
Communicator, as well as with using listservs, newsgroups, and
FTP.
