discuss CIP text chapters reviewed; James’ story.

Career Services
Topics: Historical perspective on VGM, Career
Education, National Career Development Guidelines, and STW movement; discuss
chapter 11.
Assignment: Read text chapter 12 and
develop follow-up interview questions for the author in class discussion.
9/19 4. Programs Based on P/E
Theory and CIP Theory
Topics: Discuss case applications and issues in
theory-based career services program development; discuss chapter 12.
Assignments: CIC assignment (due 10/24/07); review over 580 vendor/product
resource items in the

Management
Topics: Discuss chapter 13; discuss the importance of
materials in a career resource center; review Oklahoma One-Stop example.

Proposal (RFP) assignment (due on presentation date or 12/05/07).
10/03 6. Systems Approaches to
Program Development
Topics: Discuss a CIP-based approach to program
development using the CASVE cycle and the Request for Proposal (RFP)
assignment; illustrate the development of a RIASEC-based program development
activity; discuss possible programmatic interventions using self-help, brief
staff-assisted, and individual case-managed approaches; discuss CIP chapters
11-12.
Assignment: Read CIP chapter 14 for next class.
10/10 7. Systems Approaches
(continued) and Analyze Evaluation Models
Topics: Discuss chapter 14; examine strategies for
program evaluation, including DEM, CIPP, RIASEC Theory, and CDQ assessment
list.

10/17 8. Strategic Planning
Topics:
Discuss the importance of strategic planning in program development; Review
nominal group technique (TR-19) and Career Center Mission Statement; discuss
chapter 15 CIP in text.

Topics: Review all materials related to program
development and evaluation.
Assignment: Continue working on the RFP
project; review sample proposals from previous years as possible models for informing
