As the Career Center's librarian since 1994, Susan Epstein's mission has been to provide efficient and accurate access to the information people need for decision-making.  To this end, she has created user guides and workshops for researching employers and job searching on the Internet, systematized the processing, cataloging and filing of print, multimedia and online resources in the Career Center Library, and documented best practices for career resource library managers.  In May 2003, Epstein and colleague Britton Powers presented a concurrent session, "Managing and Accessing Resources with Career Key" at a NACE management and technology forum.  With Kirsten Kinsley, she coauthored a chapter on developing and managing a career resource library in Career Counseling and Services: A Cognitive Information Processing Approach (2004).  In addition, Epstein has been developing a thesaurus of occupational titles for use in researching possible career options or employment opportunities.

Prior to her position at the FSU Career Center, Susan Epstein's career path included positions as a program specialist for Leon County Schools in Tallahassee, FL, training coordinator for the Academy for Educational Development in Washington, DC, English teacher in Barcelona, Spain, and newsletter editor for the Jones Falls Community Corporation in Baltimore, MD.  She earned a B.A. in Spanish and a B.S. in family and community development from the University of Maryland, College Park, and an M.S. in library and information studies from the Florida State University.  She is an active member of the Special Libraries Association, the Career Resource Managers Association, and the North Florida Library Association.
