Many employers and graduate schools recommend that students get "real world" experience before graduating with their bachelor's degree. Below are some simple steps which include links to valuable resources and services to help you start.
- Create a plan for finding internship, co-op, or other work experience by visiting the Career Experience Opportunities (CEO) office at the FSU Career Center.
- Speak to a career advisor and review internship resources in the Career Center Library.
- Interview faculty in your major who can recommend major-specific internship opportunities. Ask them about receiving college credit for internship.
- Develop and document skills needed to apply for some internships
and part-time work, such as:
- Creating a resume
- Practicing for interviews
- Compiling a career portfolio.
- If you are not yet ready for a formal internship experience:
- search for part-time jobs related to your major
- volunteer for service opportunities through the Center for Civic Education and Service
If you find yourself stuck, confused, or unmotivated contact the Career Center.
