| Job Shadow | One, two, three, or four-day job shadow experience. |
| Purpose | To acquaint students with what work is really like in a career field. |
| Experience | Exploratory experience for students that may be entirely observational or a mix of observation and hands-on experience. |
| Free | Indirect costs to the employer/host will center on the staff time needed in preparing for and hosting the visit. |
| Eligibility | All employers welcome. Eligible students are currently enrolled FSU sophomore, junior, and senior students in good academic standing. |
| Dates | Your choice. You can set up the time and dates with the student. |
| Responsibilities | As employer/host you would be expected to design an experience that would give students an overview of your career field. This might include having the student rotate through various departments, attend staff or training meetings, "shadow" staff, or actually perform basic job functions. |
| Hours | Hours should be those of a normal workday. |
| Number of Students | As employer/host you will decide the number of students and opportunities you want to offer. In most instances, the number will be from one to three students. Some organizations, however, might find it more convenient to host a small group of seven to ten. |
| Diversity | We are looking for all types of experiences for our students. For example, if you are an employer/host in an engineering firm with your own sales staff, you might offer separate opportunities for both upcoming engineers and marketing representatives. A hospital might offer traditional health related options and administrative slots. We are looking for opportunities in all fields that college graduates might consider. |
| Location | Nationally- fall and spring semester students may want to spend a few hours or a day to shadow when they have a block of time not in class. Coordinate with students during breaks and summers to provide them a longer opportunity to shadow if that fits your schedule. |
