Knowing How I Make Decisions

Once you have a clear understanding of your self-knowledge and a clear understanding and knowledge of your options, the next step is to make your major/career decision. To make your decision you can synthesize your self-knowledge with the knowledge you have gained about your options. An important thing to consider is how you have made important decisions in your life. If you have successfully been able to make important decisions in your past, then the method you used for making those decisions will apply to your career decision-making.  If your decision making process has not been successful, you may find the model process that is presented below quite helpful.

Some use a systematic approach such as weighing pros and cons and some use a spontaneous approach by choosing whatever intuitively feels right. In addition, some are external decision-makers in that they talk through their decision making, obtaining input from others prior to making their decision. Others may think things through completely internally prior to making a decision. Use whatever method works best for you.
