Research Paper-Causes of the Asian Economic Crisis

In International Political Economy, I explored the causes of the crisis by examining the ASEAN area prior to the crisis, specific causes of the crisis including: unfavorable macroeconomic conditions, excessive inflows and rapid outflows of short-term capital, inappropriate exchange rate arrangements, financial system fragility, and regional contagions.

Financing Higher Education

The purpose of this paper is to examine the current financial status of higher education in developing countries. This paper examines global trends and discusses historical aspects of higher education in developing countries. After examining current issues regarding tuition examples of developing countries are given to illustrate trends. Furthermore, this paper inspects who pays for higher education, who should be paying, the problems associated with charging tuition, and the pressure that is put on the governments. As a result of the financial hardships education has created, many countries try to shift the financial burden from the government to others. Issues surrounding student financial aid are examined as well as, the role of private higher education as a means to relieve the government of financial obligations. Finally, this paper discusses the unintended consequences that have transpired as a result of higher education in developing countries.
