Interview for FSUCOM new Clinical Learning Center             

The FSU College of Medicine Clinical Learning Center is equipped with state of the art technology. This clip features me (as a medical student) demonstrating how the cameras and audio capabilities installed in each of the clinical exam rooms allow for the medical student to act independently in dealing with standardized patients and yet are being observed by a faculty member only a couple rooms away. Psychosocial Aspects of Medicine Book Review             

This 3 page essay ("Psychosocial Aspects of WIT") was written for Psychosocial Aspects of Medicine class. It reflects on the play "Wit" by Margaret Edson and recounts the experiences of a middle-aged literature professor who was diagnosed with terminal ovarian cancer. It is a captivating story that contains some memorable interactions of Dr. Vivian Bearing with health professionals at large.

Psychosocial Aspects of Medicine Treatment Plan             

This is a 5 page Treatment Outline for a hypothetical case: an African American adolescent diagnosed with Crohn's Disease since childhood who is noncompliant with treatment measures. He has also been diagnosed with Oppositional Defiant Disorder and learning disabilities. Additionally, he has significant family problems at home. Our outline identifies ways that might be used to improve compliance and interventions for his family that hopefully would improve his health outcome.

Interview for DMH Medical Scholarship Program             

As recipients of the Doctors' Memorial Medical Scholarships, two other medical students and I were interviewed by FSU Headlines. This is the story of how and why the program came about. The scholarship program is serving as a model for other rural communities who wish to support medical student who wish to return to their underserved hometowns to practice after residency. General Surgery "Controversies in Surgery" Paper             

This 10-page essay, "Bilateral Prophylactic Mastectomy as a Proposed Solution for Women at Risk of Developing Familial Breast Cancer," was assigned as part of our coursework for our General Surgery clinical rotation for our third year of medical school. It outlines the issues relating to prophylactic mastectomies and offers other treatment options for women diagnosed with familial breast cancer.
