My Objective

Welcome to my Career Portfolio! I hope that you will find the information provided helpful. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at shannon.price@med.fsu.edu or by phone at (850) 766-4284.

Plans for the Future

I have lived in Perry since 1980 and have become very fond of my hometown community. For many years there has been a shortage of medical practitioners in the county. Women's healthcare has especially suffered. After completing residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology, I plan to return to my hometown of Perry to establish my practice and help alleviate the healthcare crisis there.

My Philosophy of Life

My Philosophy of Life is simple... Dream bigger than you think is possible, develop a realistic plan for the future and work hard to make those dreams a reality. I feel that my career so far is evidence that I try to live by this philosophy.

Goals and Interests

Upon completion of my residency training, I plan to establish a medical practice in my hometown and secure admitting privileges at Doctors' Memorial Hospital. I am committed to improving the healthcare of the women in Taylor County. I am confident that my small town living experience prior to entering medical school will help ensure a successful rural clinic. People in my hometown know me for my involvement in our community through charitable events and through hospital and church functions. They are supportive of my academic endeavors and look forward to my return.

Philosophy of Practice

My favorite quote is by Dr. Don Hedges, "I don't try to heal my patients, or to do for them what they are meant to do for themselves. I try to treat each one the way I'd like to be treated and to be as good a doctor for them as I can be. I rely on God for that ability, and for the ability not to confuse my role with their outcomes, my ego with their value."
