Employer Handbook: On-campus Recruiting Procedures
Florida State University uses SeminoleLink to coordinate all on-campus recruiting schedules. Reservations are made online. The schedule and interview details are then finalized on-line by the employer. Students will submit resumes and sign- up for interviews directly on-line.
Scheduling Options
Students can be selected for interviews in two ways at The Florida State University Career Center:
- Preselection
- Open sign-up
Both methods are managed and coordinated through SeminoleLink.
Preselection
Preselection is the process by which employers choose the students they want to interview. Employers have the option to preselect 100% of the students on their schedule(s). For employers who choose preselection, access to students' resumes who have expressed an interest in interviewing with your organization is provided through SeminoleLink three weeks before your scheduled visit. We allow students who do not meet your exact specified requirements to take part in preselection. In other words, any registered student interested in an interview with you can submit a resume. You may also include students who you meet at Seminole Futures or Engineering Day in your preselection list as long as the student is registered with our office.
The names of preselected students and alternates must be chosen via SeminoleLink two weeks prior to the scheduled recruiting date. After choosing students for preselection, you may follow up with them via email through SeminoleLink.
If you have difficulty using SeminoleLink for preselection, we can send the students' resumes Federal Express collect. Contact our Assistant Director, Employer Relations and Scheduling at 850.644.9772 for this accommodation.
Open Sign-up
Schedules not filled by preselection will then be filled by open sign-up. Any student who is interested in an employer and who meets the employer's requirements (correct major, degree, graduation date, GPA, and work authorization) is welcome to sign up for an interview.
Closed Schedules
Employers wishing to interview only preselected or alternate students may close their interview schedules by simply notifying the Scheduling Coordinator when they establish their recruiting reservation.
SeminoleLink OCR Procedure
To Log-on to SeminoleLink to update your account:
- Go to http://www.career.fsu.edu.
- Click Employers: "Post a Job and Manage Recruiting and Manage Recruiting" under 'SeminoleLink'
- Enter your User Name and Password (User Name and Password are universal for all FSU online career services management (e.g., job postings, on-campus recruiting, resume books) and NACElink schools (refer to www.nacelink.com for a list of participating NACElink schools).
- Click Log in button.
- If your User name and password are correct, you will now see the NACElink Employer ad. Continue at the bottom of the screen to get to your Employer Desktop. If not, obtain your User Name and Password through selecting Have it emailed to your email account or Register for the First Time
If you have not already entered your on-campus recruiting jobs, please:
- Click on Post A Job For On-Campus Interviewing
- Enter the Job Information
- Preview, then Approve the job.
- Post as many on-campus interview jobs as you will need for your recruiting visit.
If you have previously posted on SeminoleLink:
- Click on Manage All Jobs
- Click on the first drop down menu where previous job(s) was/were posted (e.g. Global Job Listings, On-Campus Job Listings, or Free Job Listings).
- Click the button beside "All" on center of page.
- Go to bottom of web page, click on drop down menu with "Copy/Create Options" and choose appropriate option to the On Campus job listing.
- Preview, then Approve the job.
To attach a job to your schedule in SeminoleLink:
- From the main Employer Desktop, click on Manage On-Campus Activities.
- Double-click the visit to open it, then click Manage Jobs and Requirements.
- Click Attach Jobs/Set Requirements.
- Click the paperclip next to the job you want to attach.
- Select requirements for your attached job(s), if you have any. You may leave any requirement category open by not marking anything (for example, if your job is open to any major then you do not need to select every major).
- Click on Save to save your attachment and requirements.
To view and monitor your schedule, review resumes, and email students via SeminoleLink:
- Click on Manage On-Campus Activities to manage your recruiting event. Double-click the visit to open it. Choose Manage Preselects/View Referrals to see applicants.
- Be sure to meet all deadlines! Preselected names must be posted two weeks prior to your interview.
- When entering Preselect candidates, the system will not permit you to select more preselect candidates than you have interview slots available. If you need to adjust the number of schedules, rooms or slots, contact our Assistant Director, Employer Relations and Scheduling at 850.644.9772. You may enter as many Alternate candidates as you like. Alternates will be able to sign up after preselected candidates have had an opportunity to sign up, but before the schedule goes to open signup. If a student did not submit a resume through SeminoleLink for your specific schedule, but is registered with us and eligible for on-campus interviewing, you may add that person to your candidate pool using the "Add Student Not Submitted for this Position" in the drop-down Action Menu on the preselect page. Once added to the pool, you can mark him/her as preselected or alternate.
Attention Engineering Recruiters
You may interview both FSU and FAMU Engineering students during your visit to the FSU Career Center. FAMU Engineering students now have full access to SeminoleLink, therefore, additional steps are no longer required. Changes to and/or Cancellation Of Schedules
Changes and/or cancellations to scheduled date(s) or recruiting requirements can be accommodated with the greatest ease if they are made at least three weeks prior to your recruiting date(s). To make a change or cancellation, please call the Assistant Director, Employer Relations and Scheduling at 850.644.9772 as soon as possible.
Any changes made less than three weeks prior to your recruiting date(s) will not give us the opportunity for appropriate publication and may result in a less effective recruiting visit. Cancellations during this period are still accepted and no further action is necessary.
Once appointments are scheduled two weeks prior to your recruiting date, we feel that the commitment to honor those arrangements rests equally with candidates and employers. Therefore, cancellations or changes by the employer resulting in cancellation of appointments should be followed by letters or emails from your organization to the candidates. Resumes can be obtained through SeminoleLink to facilitate this courtesy contact by the employer. Candidates are bound to the same courtesy, i.e., to write a letter of explanation if they do not give adequate notice of cancellation or do not appear for an interview. In fact, in some cases, students may be banned from further on-campus interviewing for missing scheduled interviews.
