Eligibility

Current FSU student identified by the University as a distance learner, Panama City student, or student who is studying/interning abroad through International Programs.

Sign-up for a Distance Advising Appointment 

How do I Sign-up for a Distance Advising Appointment?

  1. Log into your SeminoleLink Powered by Handshake account at career.fsu.edu/seminolelink.
  2. Select AppointmentsSchedule a New AppointmentDistance Advising Appointment to view the calendar of available distance appointments.  To submit your request, complete the Distance Career Advising Appointment Request form.

*If you believe you are eligible for distance appointments but do not see Distance Advising Appointments in your SeminoleLink account, please contact us at careermail@admin.fsu.edu.

  1. After the appointment request is submitted, an appointment confirmation will be emailed with additional details for attending your distance appointment!

How Do I Make Changes to My Appointment?

  1. Log into your SeminoleLink Powered by Handshake account at career.fsu.edu/seminolelink.
  2. Select Appointments to view your Upcoming Appointments
  3. Click on the upcoming appointment that you would like to change and select cancel appointment (must be changed within 48 business hours of the scheduled appointment).  If you are cancelling within 48 hours, please call 850.644.6431.

How do I Attend my Distance Appointment?

  1. Distance appointments are conducted using FSU’s online communication and sharing platform, Skype for Business and/or phone. 
  2. Skype for Business: log into your account at the time of your scheduled appointment, and your assigned career advisor will reach out to begin the appointment. Phone: your assigned career advisor will call you at the phone number provided when you requested an appointment.

Access to Skype for Business is available from the App Launcher in your Office 365 email account.  If you haven't activated your account, or for more information about how to use Skype for Business, visit http://its.fsu.edu/Communications/Skype-for-Business/Installing-Skype-for-Business for instructions.  If you prefer an alternate method (i.e., phone/email) simply let us know when you sign up for your appointment!
