FSU Talent Treks

By engaging in focused industry exploration, meaningful conversations, and networking with FSU alumni and industry leaders, students will acquire valuable insights and skills that will enhance their ability to shape and navigate agile, purposeful, and impactful careers in an ever-changing global workplace.

 
The Career Center will offer a variety of Treks that will engage students in the development of career readiness competencies, career exploration, professional networking, FSU alumni engagement, and the opportunity to discover new career paths, experiential learning opportunities, and full-time roles.

Proposed activities and sessions must provide: 

  • The opportunity for students to practice and attain ProfessioNOLE Competencies https://www.naceweb.org/career-readiness/competencies/career-readiness-defined/ 
  • An inclusive space where students can build their network  
  • The opportunity for students to gain industry knowledge and career-related information about the featured employer including career paths, alumni success stories, industry demonstrations, real-world scenarios, and company work environment
  • Students with direct feedback from industry professionals on career-related materials such as resumes, cover letters, portfolios, mock interviews, job or internship applications, etc. 
  • Students career advice from industry professionals to guide them in their career journey 

Organizations who are selected to host a Talent Trek will work with the program manager to build a robust schedule that combines presentations with hands on activities/demonstrations.

For Treks to be offered at no cost to students, host employers should offer a meal or snack.  Offering refreshments will pique students' interests and boost interactions.  It is also a wonderful time to welcome students to your space, have informal chats, and kickstart the Trek! 

Employer selection considerations:  

  • Employers will be actively recruiting for experiential learning opportunities, early-career programs, full-time roles, and other opportunities that align with the interests and goals of students  
  • Employers will represent not only an industry but also be prepared to engage a diverse group of students across class levels and majors to ensure an inclusive experience  
  • To maximize funding, employers will be expected to provide a meal or refreshments  
  • Employers will submit a proposal including a detailed agenda to ensure their activities align with NACE competency development and additional student outcomes listed below
