What made you choose FSU?

I chose to study at Florida State University because it was the most welcoming school I visited. Everywhere one looks you can see how diverse the school is. I began my studies through the C.A.R.E program that made my transition to college as smooth as possible, and helped me financially support my studies throughout my undergraduate career.  

Describe the importance of your research and work.

My work at Danfoss has been the most significant in regards to my development as an engineer. Studying for exams in school has been a consistent formula where a student takes notes to learn the material, then answers critical thinking questions that can marginally relate to the field of work. The experience I have had at Danfoss has lead me to completely reorganize my process of thinking on my feet, to solve industry projects in the most efficient way possible. This is an area that university work cannot easily teach.

My time at Danfoss has also taught me how to be more confident in my work. At first it is intimidating to try and pick up a new project and see it through. However, I learned, through many errors, that I am indeed capable of leading projects, and delivering quality results.

Describe your career aspirations.

My goal is to continue my career in either a sustainable energy or aerospace engineering position. In my future career, I hope to be challenged by my work daily. I feel that through this give and take one develops the most as an engineer and individual. 

What advice do you have for anyone considering graduate school?

I would tell someone considering graduate school to not be intimidated. I know that I initially hesitated after hearing the difficulty level of graduate school, but I am happy I pursued an advanced degree. The classes are more difficult, but one has developed to be better equipped to deal with this. If you are interested in a career that requires an advanced degree, then go for it. It is better than accepting a job and wishing you would have done more.
