Describe the steps you took to obtain your volunteer position.

I frequently checked emails from my guidance counselor about volunteer and internship opportunities then applied.

How far in advance did you prepare and begin applying for your experiential learning opportunity?

It took me about a month of searching to find a position. I took biology and marine biology and decided I wanted to help conserve local wildlife. I have done a lot of research on wildlife.

I spent the day outside interacting with animals and maintaining their enclosures.

What are some major takeaways from your experience? How will these help prepare you for the next step after graduation?

I gained experience in conservation, animal care, as well as animal education.

Did this experience help clarify your career path? If yes, how so?

Yes, interacting and working with animals helped me determine that I want to work with animals to better understand how to conserve them and protect their environments.
